In both of these important events, Plast Eurasia in Istanbul, Turkey and Equiplast in Barcelona, Spain, we received a lot of visitors, who showed great interest in Baruffaldi’s leading products:  guillotines, punching machines for cable ducts and assembly machines for roller shutters.

The next big event will take place between 28 February and 3 March 2012 – the R+T at Stuttgart, a trade fair dedicated to the roller shutter sector.

This initiative connects schools and local institutions to the world of work. Baruffaldi received a visit from students from the final year of the local technical school, who are of course about to enter the world of work for the first time. They were accompanied by their teachers and a representative of the local employer’s’ association, Unindustria.

Alberto Dosi gave them a tour of the company and its various departments and showed the students some of the machines being produced, the work processes involved and the end products these machines produce. The visit ended with a cheerful little get-together which gave the students the chance to exchange opinions with Mr Dosi and to offer him their thanks. Come on lads! Believe in yourselves, study and hone your skills. That way you’ll be free to choose!

Responding to the questions of Claudio Carminati, Alberto Dosi, boss of Baruffaldi Plastic Technology, tells how the company has managed to recover in spite of the on-going crisis.

Dr Dosi indicated four factors of success, cost optimisation, adapting offers to the various markets, updating technologies and constant investment in research and innovation, strategies that have given results: “since 2008 our turnover has more than doubled [...] and we now employ around 30 workers, 10 more than three years ago”.

The event which took place on Thursday 22 and Friday 23 September at the company headquarters showed new and old customers the most innovative technological solutions as well as the high quality of the materials used and the services provided. Visitors came from various parts of the Europe such as Italy, France, Belgium, England, Germany and Croatia as well as from further afield, including Morocco, Thailand and India.
The On-Site Exhibition also provided those involved with the occasion to meet and thus to open up to new business opportunities and foster partnerships.

The tireless work of the sales team, backed up by the great professionalism of the engineering department showed the visiting guests how the machines are highly productive and how Baruffaldi plant can be customised to meet required solutions.

The event’s innovative formula was purposely conceived by Baruffaldi – which continues to grow in spite of the economic downturn – in order to gauge the results of the company’s strategy, which has staked everything on technological innovation and services, investing in the engineering and sales departments: the products were appreciated and new horizons and new markets were reached. Whatsmore, the whole team, who have learnt their skills within the company, showed how they work in synergy and with a team spirit in all projects.

As promised there was no lack of conviviality and fun (see the photo gallery).

There was also an emotional moment in the final moments of the intense two-day event when Dr Alberto Dosi whilst thanking the customers who had taken part and all the staff for their work, brought back to their memory Eng. Mauro Baruffaldi whose professional talents are still tangible in the firm today.

Art, tourism and Superbikes

The event at our premises will take place on a weekend near the end of September that coincides with many other events in the surrounding area. For our guests at Baruffaldi, especially those coming from abroad, we have arranged some time out for cultural and sporting interests. On Friday 23nd at 7 in the evening, at the Palazzo dei Diamanti, considered one of the world’s most beautiful Renaissance art palaces, there will be an interesting guided tour of the exhibition “The Crazy Years: the Paris of Modigliani, Picasso, Dalì”. The exhibition comprises masterpieces by the great masters of modernism, the protagonists of a period of great artistic vitality.

In addition, between 23^rd and 25^th September 2011 the Superbike World Championship race at Imola, just 45 minutes from Ferrara, takes place. With Baruffaldi, sponsor of the BMW team, you’ll have the chance to go into the VIP paddock area at any time during the motorcycling weekend.

With its historic centre, declared a World Heritage Centre in 1995 by UNESCO, the city where Baruffaldi is situated, Ferrara, can only be considered as one of the most important cities of the Renaissance. Besides the Castello Estense, the Palazzo dei Diamanti and the Cathedral, Ferrara has lots of other places to discover, such as the nearby Delta del Po, Comacchio, Bologna and interesting Also not to be missed is the local food which includes pumpkin ravioli, macaroni pie and salami in wine sauce (salamina da sugo). Altogether then, this is a unique occasion for spending a few days with the family mixing business with tourism, culture and sport.

Although the Italian pavilion was not in a central position our stand received several visits by highly qualified people in the industry, whose interest in our punching and roller shutters packaging systems confirmed the importance of the Baruffaldi brand as the leading worldwide reference for end of line extrusion systems.

The collaboration with Stafer, a company with which Baruffaldi has launched a partnership in the field of commercial shutters, proved once again a winning strategy in view of the penetration that we are pursuing in this market.

The punching unit POVI 6000 is equipped with 3 independent punching heads (2 horizontal and 1 vertical) for the precise punching of cable ducts with width from 100 to 600 mm and wall thickness up to 6,0 mm. Moreover, it is possible to adjust the punching depth according to the cable duct thickness by means of the operator panel.

The cutting unit allows to cut all cable duct sizes up to 600 x 120 mm and is the ideal solution for a precise cut, without swarfs or dust.

The large visitors number, the quantity and the quality of the projects, we discussed with companies coming from all over the world, left us with a positive impression on the inversion of the slow market trend of last year.

Once again Baruffaldi has “hit the target” confirming itself a worldwide leader with its special machinery for the down stream equipment and its capability to meet the customers’ production needs in a flexible and customized way.

Our new technologies awoke the interest of the K2010 public. In particular our POVI 10.000 punching plant to produce high quality cable ducts, with which we are the only one to offer a reliable scoring system and an effective coining process to eliminate swarfs and round off sharp edges at a high production speed.

Noteworthy was also the visitors’ interest for our dual strand extrusion tools for roller shutter profiles extruded at 2 x 12 m/min and the assembly machine, both innovative solutions to produce quality roller shutter directly in the extrusion line at a very high speed.

We trust that our success at the K2010 will be a good foundation for the future.
